Next best thing may very well happen. You know Bungie is now completely independent (no contracts). They're probably gonna go with xbox or ps#, and pc. I don't see them going multi-console, but there's no reason to think their next title won't be on pc also. Right now they're goin' it rogue, because it sounds cool.

That storytelling is just as important in a game as lyrics are in a song. Great lyrics can make a great song, but some of my favorite songs have no lyrics at all. Just to end this line of thought. You cannot build an Indie game that has in it, in any way, copyrighted material. Unless the copyrighted material was yours to begin with. So, no Materchiefs, no Marios, etc. (obviously)
I too am an XNA member and the software kits to build a game are COMPLETELY FREE! Though you do need a premium subscription to post a game on XBox Live, that costs $100/year.

I disagree for walkthroughs on games like this. It's a PUZZLE game. The sense of accomplishment in figuring out the puzzles far surpasses a quick run-through just to get the achievables and finishing the game. I believe they made figurines for Halo 3 as well. As a figurine manufacturing company, why would you not want to come out with a line of something that has an enormous audience? What better candidate is there than Halo?
I made it through the entire campaign without using a keyboard while playing. That being said, the mouse can do things that an analog stick cannot. RTSs like Supreme Commander 2 and Halo Wars actually worked out really well due to the implementation of the circle menu.
